BT Fibre Optic BroadbandBT have this week announced that they are to more than double the planned roll-out of their fast fibre-optic broadband service to some 2.5 million homes by 2012.

BT’s fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP) roll-out will offer customers download speeds of up to 100Mb with the capacity for 1GB a future possibility.

O2 BroadbandEarlier this week O2 announced plans to begin throttling Peer 2 Peer and Newsgroup connections on their O2 Home Access (BT based) broadband package.

Today, O2 have spoken out on the restrictions by promising that actual connection speeds for file-sharers won’t be reduced during their new peak time restrictions that begin on Saturday.
