3 Mi-Fi Mobile BroadbandA new service has been launched from the UK broadband network 3 that will offer a more flexible mobile broadband and wireless broadband service.

Known as ‘Mi-Fi, the new wireless broadband service from 3 allows a number of different separate devices to access their wireless modem at any one time. Basically, this means that their 3G connection can be shared among users that are within a 10-metre radius of the modem.

“Mobile wifi sends out a signal so you can connect to the internet without needing any wires. This means you can connect different devices at once. So while you’re checking emails on your laptop, you can download tracks and apps on your iPod touch,” said 3.

The 3 mobile ‘Mi-Fi’ package is currently available on two different tariffs, a pay as you go mobile broadband package, and a rolling 1 month contract.

Customers who opt for the PAYG option will receive a mobile Wi-Fi dongle, and 3GB of data allowance for a one-time payment of £99.99. Once the 3GB data allowance has been used, customers can simply top-up the service just like any other pay as you go mobile broadband package.

Customers who decide on the one month contract tariff will get a 5GB monthly download allowance for £15 a month, along with a one-time payment of £69.99 for the modem.
