O2 UK To Trial 4G LTE Mobile Broadband

O2 Mobile BroadbandMobile broadband provider O2 will begin trials of a new mobile broadband technology that will reach speeds of up to 340Mbps.

Known as Long Term Evolution (LTE), the new mobile broadband technology will be trialled in the UK before Summer of next year.Announced by O2’s parent company, Telefonica, the UK will be one of six other European countries starting the trials over the coming months.

To do this, we are defining our strategy and the rollout of LTE with the objective of driving mobile broadband and offering the best service from the moment that the equipment and terminals can support the new standards and are available for sale.” – Julio Linares, COO of Telefónica

The new LTE mobile broadband promises to provide mobile broadband speeds over ten times what is currently available in the UK.
